New platform provides insight into innovative food technologies

For companies that want to innovate

The new Natural Processing Solutions platform from TOP bv and its partners provides insight into the opportunities that new processing technologies can offer. Companies that are looking for innovative methods to process food can start their quest here. The technologies have in common that they process products in a natural way, with better preservation of quality and taste and lower energy consumption.

Most food companies have the knowledge to develop a new flavour or an extension of the existing production line. But most truly innovative products are based primarily on innovative production methods. Wouter de Heij, CEO of TOP bv: “The knowledge on technological innovation is often lacking. At TOP we get lots of questions about that. To help companies get started we created with partners such as Cool Wave Processing and JFPT, the Natural Processing Solutions platform. This is where the search begins for companies that really want to innovate.”

The website www.naturalprocessingsolutions.com is the foundation of the platform and will be updated regularly. Examples of technologies are AMAP, the Melonpeeler and PurePulse. AMAP reduces the waste in fresh produce by preserving the quality for longer. This system is now being implemented worldwide. The Melonpeeler is an efficient way to manually peel melons at the same speed as expensive automated equipment. PurePulse extends the shelf life of fresh juices and other liquids without heating or additives, using only electric pulses. This results in a taste, colour and smell similar to fresh products, but with a month extra shelf life. With these methods, products can be created that are really distinctive in the market.

The platform will be officially launched at the fresh produce trade fair Fruit Logistica from 4 to 6 February in Berlin. The booth is literally a showroom where various technologies are demonstrated. Interested companies are welcome to visit the stand and learn more about the available technologies. The booth is located in Hall 5.1 booth B-03.
