TOP launches RF-sterilisation pilot
After several years of development TOP bv from Wageningen launches their RF-sterilisation pilot installation for food production. On 11 October the company organizes a seminar about the technology and market opportunities of this in-pack preservation technology. Interested companies are invited to register for this event.
The introduction of Radio Frequency in-pack sterilisation signifies an expansion of possibilities for the industry to differentiate on quality. With the RF-installation packaged foods can be sterilised in a significantly shorter heating time compared to a standard retort process, resulting in a better preservation of the colour, taste and structure. This makes the installation primarily interesting for difficult to pump and solid foods. With the new technology the industry can respond better to the need of consumers for more premium convenience products with a longer shelf life. Next to that it offers the possibility for the development of maybe even completely new concepts.
The past few years TOP has worked on a pilot in RF-sterilisation. The technology is now ready to be tested by the food industry. Interested food manufacturers can contact TOP.
